A common phobia

cure fear of flyingOne of the most common phobias amongst the American people is the fear of flying particularly since the events of 911. It affects all types of people from all walks of life even some frequent flyers who have to travel on business.

We all know the statistics about how air travel is the safest form of transport but that does not calm our nerves when contemplating that imminent flight we have booked for our vaccation.

In reality there is no completely safe way to travel and there never will be so how are we to overcome this fear and get to where we want to be without falling to pieces.

It is possible for any of us to conquer any type of fear if we really want to but some seem to not want to give up their fears as it brings them attention and sympathy from others. If you want to do it you just need to take action and here we shall look at what you can do to deal with it.

Firstly identifying the reason for your fear; Have you allways had this fear or was it triggered by an event in history or personal experience perhaps there is no relation to your fear at all.

The major US airlines are all happy to help you with this and you will get the opportunity to question them on all aspects of flight safety and backup systems. Once you have an understanding of how things work it can really help with overcoming your fear.

Thirdly; Take a look around the internet where there is a vast amount of information on the subject. There are fear of flying classes run by people experienced in dealing with this phobia and there are many self help books and audio CD’s avaliable from various suppliers including self hypnosis and relaxation techniques.

So as you can see there is much you can do to help yourself and it is simply a matter of going online or picking up the phone to get started but without taking action nothing will change and your life will be less fulfilling as not flying means you may miss out on many possible adventures or reunions with friends and family all over the planet.
